How we keep the porch safe
Community Guidelines
The porch is a quiet, honest place. These guidelines exist so that it stays that way — for everyone.
Be human, be kind
Share from your own experience. Speak honestly, and assume good faith in others. We're here to listen, not to win arguments.
Protect identities
Don't share identifying details about yourself unless you choose to, and never share identifying details about someone else without their consent. If a story isn't yours to tell, don't tell it here.
What we don't allow
The following will not be published and may be removed at any time:
- Doxxing or personal identifying information about another person
- Threats of any kind
- Harassment or targeted intimidation
- Hate-based content
- Illegal content
- Explicitly identifying private individuals
- Spam or repeated unsolicited material
- Malicious links
- Content intended to expose or harm another person
Reporting
If something feels off — a story, a comment, anything — use the Report button on that content. A human will look at it. You don't have to explain more than a sentence.
What happens to submissions
Every submitted story starts in review. Nothing becomes public without an editor reading it first and without the permission you gave. You can read the full Story Submission Terms and Consent information any time.
A living document
These guidelines may change as the community grows. We'll do our best to keep the spirit the same: a warm, safe porch where real stories are welcome.
"Your story matters." That's the whole idea.
